If you have an eye for the odd, this one will really ring bells. It is an early open pontil sauce or utility with an absolutely wrong exaggerated small taper top that is just proportionately too small for the bottle and neck. A rare form with no seams and deep kick-up open pontil circa 1830s or early 40’s. Possibly Pittsburgh, but again, not the normal top. Definitely a “one-off” with no damage or repairs, just a slights wear rub near the base and displays as perfect. Never cleaned.
