| 10-3/4" tall whiskey with good rich, mostly olive, color with olive amber tone and great character--it has a teardrop swirl of deep amber glass (in a tadpole shape) as well as a prominent potstone in the neck which bulges out but has no legs. Exhibits a few minor scratches, minor wear marks and a small, shallow, clean flake off the bottom edge. Just a bit of original content stain to the right of the "tadpole". Has a sand pontil (no iron oxides) with a slightly sharper break-away. Probably blown in a North Eastern region glass house, and in just about perfect shape aside from the minor base edge nick. | MARYLAND--CHEMICAL/WORKS--BALTIMORE--CALCINED/MAGNESIA". RARE AND EARLY! I RESEARCHED AND WROTE AN ARTICLE ABOUT THE MARYLAND CHEMICAL WORKS, WHICH EXPLAINS MY DATING OF THIS BOTTLE. THE CONDITION OF THE BOTTLE IS DUG AND CLEANED BUT WITH NO DAMAGE. THERE ARE SOME TRACES OF STAIN AND SCALING REMAINING ON THE INTERIOR, BUT THE OVERALL PRESENTATION IS THAT OF A DUG BOTTLE THAT CLEANED UP NICELY, AND DOES NOT APPEAR TUMBLED AT ALL.
