September
6th, 2004 will be remembered as a day that almost destroyed the
better part
of a collection that had endured over five moves, two divorces,
countless shows and
three hurricanes over the past 25 years. Only hours before a 90
foot southern pine came crashing into the roof above, several
better bottles from one display window were cautiously placed in a safe area, including
September's featured pontiled soda.
Sadly, several other bottles were not so lucky, including a
rare, Baltimore Lord & Taylor iron pontiled whiskey barrel and a
civil war period citrate that had been sold and was awaiting
shipping . . . |
