Product Description
Here’s another iron pontil Baltimore made soda or mineral (or perhaps a lager), circa 1850′s. This example has yet another distinctive, short, squared off blob (with a thick top edge) which is found on one other completely different mold in my collection, another Baltimore soda. It’s a little taller than the typical P. BABB pony, but not as tall as the true lager. It also comes in that typical rich aqua though this example has a bit more “powdery blue” tone and less green.
Though unembossed, this example is also rare, and is the only example I have ever handled. There seems to a crying bear in the iron pontil base with a trembling lip and a tear running out of one eye (well, I guess you just have to look at the pic and use your imagination).
The bottle has been cleaned and has light remaining wear with some more moderate wear to the exterior sides of the blob. There is no damage at all and it displays perfectly in a sunlit window
