add to favorites Early 1830's Houck's BALTIMORE open pontil $ 325.00
While there are many surviving mint "HOUCK's PATENT PANACEA" bottles in circulation, this is by far the earliest I've seen, exhibiting the short, flared taper and expanded neck that identifies with the earliest of Catholicons (Potter's, Oneil's) as well as the first cylindrical Swaim's, circa 1829. This mint example is one of Jacob Houck's earliest bottles, circa early 1830's and stands above the rest, even though the price is right there with the average Houcks of the 40's and 50's. In making pontil flash as seen in pics--be sure to enlarge all. $9.00 shipping includes insurance.
add to favorites Civil Ware Era FLEMING Citrate Early smooth base $ 79.50
One of my all time favorites, the JOS. FLEMING / DRUGGIST / COR. MARKET & DIMOND / PITTSBG PA Rich, bluish aqua, this bottle has been lightly cleaned to about perfect condition with no damage or distractions of any type. Clean and shimmering clear. Circa 1860-1865. Beautiful Civil War period medicine, or citrate. 7 1/2" tall. $9.50 shipping and insur.
add to favorites CIVIL WAR ERA DRUGGIST Early smooth base $ 55.50
GREAT example of a JOHN GILBERT druggist, in my favorite "citrate" size. Just missed being open pontiled. Lightly cleaned to about perfect with just a hint of remaining orange peel type pitting (in-making?). Pretty clean open bubble inside shoulder with no dirt or gunk. No chips, cracks, stain, haze, nicks, dings or case wear--displays perfect. Early hinge-mold smooth base, circa 1860-1865. Definately a Civil War era collectible. $9.50 covers shipping and insurance.
